Nepal Travel Notice

NAMASTE !!  Welcome to the free and pure Nepal. There are some tips that may help you in some way as follows:

1,Weather: Dry season with a cool weather is from October to March. In winter, you can just take a thin wool sweater and a jacket when you visit Nepal. It’s tropical weather in Chitwan. So don’t forget to take T-shirt due to hot weather. Because of full sunshine, and dry weather, you may prepare some stuff like: sun glasses, sun cream, sun cap, moisture cream and lip balm.

2,Altitude: You can’t be in a high altitude area like Tibet, if you don’t go for trekking in Nepal. Look, there are the altitude in different area: Kathmandu 1300 m, Pokhara 800 m, Chitwan 150 m and Nagarkot 1800 m. So don’t worry about altitude problem and enjoy free and pure Nepal!

3,Stuff: You don’t need to take any special stuff but passport with visa, air ticket, cash or credit car, luggage trunk or backpack, waist bag, suitable clothes, outdoor shoes, sun cream, sun glasses, tooth brush and paste, slippers, normal medicine, pillow for car sitting,
Gears of photography, torch and mobile.

4,Time difference: local time is 5hrs 45min ahead of GMT and 2hrs 15min behind Beijing time.

5,Currency: Local currency is Rupees (RS). Please take USD or RMB with you, before you visit Nepal. You can exchange RS at local bank in rate of 1:78 for USD and 1:11 for RMB( the actual rate will be different day to day). You can change a few RS at airport Kathmandu in case of tips for luggage boy in Hotel. Then you may exchange RS with USD or RMB at a local bank.

6,Language: Nepalese is the official language. English will be used in hotels, shops and restaurant and the tourist related places normally. NAMASTE will be said by Nepali people greeting each other with both hands put together.

7,Electric appliance and mobile phone: Electric voltage is 220v or 240v. The socket in hotels is two-way with round holes (English system). If you put on the international IDD on you mobile, Mobile phones from different countries could be used in Nepal.You need to dial 00977 (code of Nepal) +1(code of Kathmandu)or 61(code of Pokhara) or 56(code of Chitwan)+phone#, if you dial from your own country. There are many internet phone bars and IDD phones and internet bars with cheap rates in Nepal. E.g. the farther the internet phone bar is located from center of Thamel street, the cheaper they charge you.

8,Hotels: Tourist is the main industry in Nepal, so there are full equipped in tourist erea.
There are so many options for tourists, from 5* hotels in different cities to cheap guest houses. Generally speaking, comparing with hotels in other countries, the scale of premium Hotels are old and not big. But they have a very good service. Accommodation offered by travel Agency for tour group will be twin with 2 beds and breakfast for 2 clients.

9,Meals: The breakfast will be west style in hotel. For lunch and dinner you could find good Food from different countries and some of them are Indian Chinese food. You may bring your own food with you (no liquid). Nepali show could be arranged on the dinner.

10,Vehicle: Basically, there is no industry in Nepal. So the most tourist vehicles are imported from India, Japan and Korea. They are old.

11,Souvenirs: Handcrafts like stature of Buddha, Tangkha, sheep wool rug, hand-made ornament,Paper crafts, oil painting, national knife, sheep wool scarf, CD, post card, landscape painting, Nepali cotton dress, wood carving, pottery, mental ware and so on deserve to buy. But note:
Buddha statue, looked as a antique, will not allowed to take out of Nepal.

12,Tips: Nepal is a tips country. You need to offer tips for driver, tour guide USD 5 per day per client. And some tips for luggage boy, waiter is necessary.

13,Air flight: There are many flights to Kathmandu from many south-east Asian countries.And there are flights from Hong Kong, Germany, Qatar too. The flight from Air China is very Special. From the flight, you could see the Mt. Everest after take off from Lhasa 40 min.if the weather is good. Right windows by to and Left windows by from Kathmandu will be right seats to view Mt. Everest.

14,Notice:
A. All the vehicles running on roads will be on left site. So the vehicles have the right wheels. It’s crowded in Kathmandu city proper with many cars. Look around before you cross the road.
B. Take a name card of hotel which you stay with you in case of getting lost.
C. It’s not polite to wear tight dress for ladies in Nepal. Don’t wear slippers and wear Long skirt and trousers when you visit a temple in Nepal.
D. If you are photo lover and want to take a picture of local people in some public bath house, you need get the allowance by them.
E. Water is not so good in Nepal. Please buy bottled drinking water in super market. Please check if the seal of the water bottle is ok. Bottled drinking water offered by hotel can be drunk.
F. There will be many tourists from all over the world, especially in winter. So there may be a lot of visitors in attractions. So you need to follow the guide or tour leader. Tour guide will introduce every thing to you and give you free leisure time. You should be on time at the point the guide tell you. Thank you for you cooperation!
